Hotel Store Ringheim Voss – stay in a unique atmosphere

Store_Ringheim_hotel

Store Ringheim Farmstead at Voss has been in the same family for eight generations. And has recently changed from farming to serving guests, seeking that unique boutique hotel experience. Not only that, the hotel’s own restaurant, Flor’n is the best in the valley.

The old barn dating back to the seventeenth century is the heart of the establishment. Here you find the reception, lobby bar and the restaurant. Two other buildings in the yard host the hotel.

Store Ringheim is a traveling reason itself

Go here when you visit Norway and Voss. Not only if you are a skier. You might as well be a foodie or just seeking a place to slow down. This is it.

The location above the town center offers a remarkable view. And it calms you down.

Store Ringheim is also located only a few minutes away from the legendary slopes of Voss ski resort. Voss second ski resort, Myrkdalen, is a half – hour drive away. There are free shuttle buses to Myrkdalen ski resort from the Voss Gondol. Your host Svein Ringheim is happy to take you down to the gondola station with his own shuttle.

On a walking distance from the hotel you will find Voss Folke museum. There you can visit a farm exactly as the Store Ringhem looked before modernization. Take an extra look at the museum room “eldhuset” as that shows how Store Ringheim’s suite with the same name looked until recently. The Voss Folk museum is definitely worth a visit during your stay at Store Ringheim hotel.

All fifteen rooms are in its own unique style

Every room in this over 400-year-old farm has undergone modernization with the utmost care. Svein Ringheim and his family have made their home ours to enjoy. Modern hotel rooms with an ancient history, divided into two houses. The most unique are the rooms in the old farm house dating back to 1860.

All rooms have been given names based on their previous usage. You can sleep in Kjøkjen (Kitchen), Stovo (living room) and so on. All spacious with their own bathrooms. The room “Eldhuset” is the one to fight for if you seek that unique rustic feeling.

This part of the house is the oldest. No one really knows how old, but it is mentioned in the church book, dated 1645. But don’t worry, any other room at this hotel stands up to its standard. Clean, fresh and neatly furnished.

What about the food served

This is not just a boutique hotel, the in-house restaurant called “Flor’n” is also at the top of what Voss can offer.

Once you are here, don’t hold back, go for the tasting menu. The food and presentation is rustic, as everything else at this farmstead.

Every dish is carefully prepared with heart and care. You can feel and taste that these people love what they are doing, and they love to serve you the best groceries from the valleys surrounding Voss.

Obviously, Store Ringheim can’t compete with the world-famous wine list down at Park hotel Vossevangen. But few in the world can, and it would be ridiculous to find two such cellars in this small ski town.

Despite this, the wines available at Store Ringheim are perfectly matched with the cuisine served.

Restaurant Flor’n is open to everyone. So even if you choose another accommodation on your Voss vacation, you should take my advice and reserve a table here for at least one evening. For us staying at Store Ringheim over the night, a small but tasty breakfast buffet is waiting in the morning. It follows the red thread of the house, rustic, local, loving and tasteful.
