At our last visit to Hemsedal we stayed at Fýri resort. Fýri is actually a hotel and Hemsedal is the resort, but that’s just marking words. Fýri is a great place! A modern hotel that despite its young age holds a good amount of atmosphere. It’s located a bit off from the central ski area, but there is a transportation lift that brings you to the slopes without problem. There is also a ski rental in connection to the hotel.
The spacious and open lobby welcomes everyone that enter through the doors. And in the lobby bar you will find all kinds of people which makes you feel like home. Everyone is there to enjoy after ski and chat over today’s ski experience. Drinks, sofas and a fair amount of table games makes this the living room for the whole family including friends. Fact is that there is a good chance that you pop in to some familiar faces while you are here. That’s how popular this lobby bar is.
Yes they have a SPA, and it’s a good one!
We love small hotels, and Fýri resort is not one of those, which must be said.
But somehow a genius architect manage to bring the feeling of a boutique hotel into this cruise ship stranded on the mountainside in Hemsedal. One advantage big hotels offers is that they sometimes host a good spa and pool area, something that a smaller hotel seldom can manage. And yes, Fýri is one of those hotels that carries a real good spa and pool area inside it shelf (and outside as well).
Sunbeds surround the indoor pool and there is a poolside bar, very convenient. Dinner restaurant is fancy and the view over the mountains is great. The breakfast buffet is also served in the dining hall. All in all, it was a nice stay and if we go back to Hemsedal we would surly consider staying here again.
